Poetry Workshop at BBC Radio Stoke

Occupational Therapy staff at Stonefield House worked in collaboration with South Staffs Community Nursing Team toorganise a group of 8 clients to attend a series of 3 workshops in the Learning Centre at BBC Radio Stoke in Hanley.

The workshops were run by ex-Cheshire poet laureate, John Lindley, who runs creative workshops on poetry for all ages and abilities and has written several books of poetry.

Clients used photographs as a stimulus to write about their favourite places and memories of childhood or special events in their lives.

The workshops were a mix of poetry readings from John and creative writing sessions with clients who then had the opportunity to read their poetry to the group.

At the end of each session, the Community Service Volunteers Action
Desk at BBC Radio Stoke recorded clients reading out their poetry, with
a view to airing some of the poetry on radio at a date to be confirmed.
